1Sam 16:7 – Looking inside

I’m surrounded by an assortment of people at the marathon start. Old. Young. Tall. Short. Thin. Large. I would never have thought that some of these people could run a marathon. But they can, and they do. Later as I stumble across the finish line, many whom I doubted would finish have already finished. It’s not what they look like on the outside that matters. It’s the fitness of their heart – and that you can’t see. When God chose a king for Israel, Samuel brought tall and handsome men as options. Yet God rejected them. “But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7). It was David, a scrawny looking lad whom God chose because he was a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22). Outward appearances are deceptive and fleeting. Don’t pursue them. Rather hide God in your heart (Psalm 119:11), and you will be chosen by him. Open Bible – https://bit.ly/1sa16-7, https://bit.ly/act13v22, https://bit.ly/psa119v11
