2Ch 15:7 – Don’t give up

You know the feeling. You have just watched someone play the guitar, or dance across the waves on a surfboard, or speak a foreign language fluently – and you decide you want to learn to do that too. But it’s likely you also know the feeling of giving up somewhere in the process. It’s just too difficult. It’s taking too long to see results. Giving up on these hobbies, while disappointing, is not necessarily life altering. Yet all too often our society’s disposable, no-commitment attitude causes us to give up on the eternal pursuit of sharing and showing God’s good news. “The world is just too evil”. “I can’t make a difference”. “There are too many problems”. And with that, as though it is just a hobby, we give up on our commitment to God. Asa, who was king of the small nation of Judah lived in a difficult time. Violence, war, and ungodliness everywhere – even among his own people. Whatever he tried to do seemed to have little impact in the midst of such a difficult situation. And then God says to him, “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” (2 Chronicles 15:7). And so he renews his resolve to bring righteousness and peace to his land. And God caused it to happen. God is saying the same to you. “Be strong. Don’t give up. Your work for me will be rewarded.” For he will soon cause his good news to be the only news. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/2ch15v7
