2Co 4v7 – The Trapped Log

Walking along the seawall, I see a massive log trapped between the tide and the shore. This huge log could be used to hold up a house or a bridge. Yet, it seems like the tide and the waves are determined to destroy it. Despite its size, eventually, it will break apart and disappear into the sea. It’s not difficult to see ourselves in the log. We are amazing. We have achieved many great things – from pyramids to palaces, computers to cars. Yet still, we are trapped by the relentless pounding of life’s issues and challenges. There is no escape until, like the log, we eventually succumb to the sea of time. But Paul says, “We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.” (2 Corinthians 4:8). How do we escape the crushing? The solution is in the previous verse – “We now have God’s light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves” (2 Corinthians 4:7). There is an escape from the inevitable end, not by ourselves, but by God’s power there is. Stop the inevitable crushing – Let God’s great power be in you. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/2Co4v7-8
