I remember once having a vivid dream where I was locked in a dungeon and Jesus appeared and led me out. We then got into a car and he drove at a crazy speed up a winding mountain pass around hairpin bends. Yet I felt no fear at all, just total peace. And then at the top of the mountain where the road ended, he did a crazy thing. He turned the car to face the edge. After a pause he hit the accelerator sending us careering off the mountainside. Yet in all this, not once did I feel fear. My abiding memory of the dream is the incredible peace I felt knowing Jesus was driving. We all want to run our own lives, drive our own cars. However, life’s road is full of dangerous turns and unknown challenges. Jesus says, “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am.” (Mark 8:34). Let him take the steering wheel of your life and experience the incredible peace of knowing he is taking you on the most certain route to God’s kingdom.
