Exo 4:12 – God’s mouth

Exo 4:12 – God’s mouth

“Oh, My God!” This has become a common refrain in our media-moulded society. Yet, the speaker is seldom crying out to God or giving him praise. Our words are a reflection of what we read and hear. Jesus said, “For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” (Matthew 12:34). And sadly, today, our hearts are seldom full of God’s teaching. However, the complexity of life – its challenges and trials, cannot be successfully navigated with trite phrases and shallow words. For us to truly impact those around us and find a life of love, peace, and joy, we need to have a mouth that can speak wisdom – God’s wisdom. Moses had a real challenge. He was persona non grata in Egypt. In fact, the pharaoh wanted to kill him. And now he had to go back and face this tyrant and convince him to release hundreds of thousands of people who were being kept as slaves. What could he say? How would he know how to speak under such stress? And so God says to him, “Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” (Exodus 4:12). It’s the same for you. God wants to teach you. He wants to give you life-saving words to speak. Words that will calm fires and grow love. Open his Word and learn. Let God speak for you.
