Isa 44:3-4 – Growing for God

If you enjoy gardening, you know the pleasure it is watching young seedlings that you planted and nurtured grow into healthy trees or flowering shrubs. And then to see the birds and insects enjoying the fruit of your labour. To breathe in the beautiful scents of jasmine and other flowers in bloom. In a similar way, our Heavenly Father derives great pleasure in seeing his children thrive under his nurturing hand. Through his Spirit, he waters our lives with His wisdom, love, peace, and wonder. “For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing” (2 Corinthians 2:15). But not only do we bring him joy, we bring joy to others. On the banks of our small lake, there is a willow tree. Its flourishing leaves are a favourite spot for birds and insects. So too, with our Heavenly Father’s careful nurturing, we can experience His blessings and not only thrive but bring blessings to those around us – “And I will pour out my Spirit on your descendants, and my blessing on your children. They will thrive like watered grass, like willows on a riverbank” (Isaiah 44:3-4). Grow for God and experience and thrive in his blessings.
