It’s the ultimate cringe. Inadvertently leaving your Zoom camera or mic on and saying or doing something you didn’t want others to hear or see. And then you realize. You don’t know where to hide. Everyone heard. Everyone saw. Cringe 😬. Technology that enables such seamless communication also has its downside – giving unintended access to our private words and actions. Yet God sees and hears everything we say and do. Our cameras and mics are always on for him. Everything heard. Everything seen. “You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.” (Psalms 139:1-3). How would you behave if your Zoom camera and mic were always on? Would you gossip? Behave unkindly? Act sinfully? Yet God sees everything we do. Every detail. This should be a comfort knowing he is always there but is it? Our Zoom mistake isn’t the ultimate cringe, it’s hearing Jesus say, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Matthew 7:23). Let’s live knowing and thanking God that he sees and hears all we do. “I am writing this not to shame you but to warn you.” (1 Corinthians 4:14).
