“Come closer. Listen carefully. I have something exciting to share with you.” We all love exciting news. But the question is, what is the news we listen to every day? Is it the local news and social media? What impact does what we listen to have on our lives? Does it make us feel motivated and refreshed? Or does it make us feel depressed and dejected? Is it full of hope and truth, or is it full of lies and doom? Wisdom says, “Listen, for I will speak of excellent things, And from the opening of my lips will come right things” (Proverbs 8:6). As we start the new year, let’s commit to reading God’s word daily, so His wisdom can direct our steps. Let’s commit to listening to that which is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable (Philippians 4:8). Let’s ask God to fill us with His wisdom. “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” (James 1:5). Imagine living this year filled with God’s wisdom which is “peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds.
