Pro 16v3 – Rolling it to God

We all have plans for the new year. Starting a degree or a career. Going on holiday. Getting married. Starting a family. Building a home or a business. But how many of our plans do we give to God? In Proverbs 16:3 we read; “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans”. So what does it mean to commit? “Commit” is the Hebrew word “galal” and it means “to roll”. The word is used in Joshua 5:9 – “Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.” So the place has been called Gilgal to this day.” When we ”commit” our work and plans to the Lord, we are offering everything we do completely to Him. Just like if I roll a ball to you, it means I am no longer holding on to it. So too, with our plans. When we commit them to God, He takes possession of them. It’s not just our big plans. We are told to commit “whatever we do” to him. Trust God with your plans – big and small – and he will give you access to a life beyond imagining because He has “plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).
