1Jo 2v17 – Fake Advert

An overseas visitor who had booked an Airbnb for three months shared her story with us. She said the pictures on the Airbnb listing were amazing. Stunning furnishings, proximity to major attractions, lovely views. However, on arriving, she discovered the Airbnb was located on the wrong side of town. The streets were unsafe and she was warned not to walk outside alone. Isn’t this the world’s advert for us? It advertises life without God like an amazing Airbnb listing but does not disclose the hidden dangers. An amazing job with a high salary and endless perks means no time with the family and a broken marriage in the future. The handsome partner you move in with leaves you for someone else one year later, leaving you heartbroken. The expensive private school you worked long hours to afford for your daughter meant wealthy new friends who introduced her to drugs. God warns us, “For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world”. But, as it continues, “The world and its desires pass away,” (1 John 2:16-17). God does not want us to be a friend of the world and all its fake offers. He knows they will harm us. But the good news is if we choose to abide in God and not the world, he promises us that; “he who does the will of God abides forever.” (1 John 2:17). Don’t believe the world’s advert. Choose God, and experience a home and life that is safe and beautiful and lasts forever. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/1jo2v16-17
