“You are offline”. Grr. This is not want I want my phone to say. Our mobile phones have become so much more than phones. They are our social media connection, banking, email, messaging, navigation, games, and much more. However, most of this only works if we are connected to the Internet. And so, when you had planned on using an app, only to be informed, “You are offline”, the frustration is understandable. This amazing mobile phone designed to do so much is useless if it isn’t connected to the Internet. But the same also applies to us. We amazing humans designed to do so much are essentially useless if we aren’t connected to God. Jesus doesn’t use a cellphone story but a farming story to make this point. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). To put this in mobile phone talk, Jesus is saying, “I am the Internet, and you are the phones. If you connect to me you will be very useful.; but disconnected you can do nothing.” God designed us to connect with him. To have a relationship with him. And in so doing, bring joy to us and others. So, no matter how amazing we may think we are, disconnected from God, we will not only be frustrated but ultimately achieve nothing. Are you offline? Open Bible – https://bit.ly/joh15v5
