1Co 3v16 – The house

Home – it’s a place we desire to live with loved ones in joy and peace. It’s God’s design. In the beginning, in the dark endless emptiness of space, God created Earth – a place for Him to live with us. He then planted a garden, and in the garden, He made a special space, Eden, where we could be with him. However, humans chose self-worship, and we lost our special relationship with God. Yet God still wanted to make his home with us. “My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people” (Ezekiel 37:27). And so He created a tabernacle – a tent house where he could live with the nation of Israel in the middle of a desert. Later Solomon built a grander temple. However, the people saw the “houses” and not the relationship. We had to learn that “the Most High does not live in houses made by human hands” (Acts 7:48). It was not the built house God wanted, but the human house – “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?” (1 Corinthians 3:16). God didn’t choose his home just to be planet earth, or a garden, or a tent, he chose it to be in you. The creator of the universe wants to live in you. “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” (Revelation 3:20). Welcome home.
