“He is totally ruined!” It’s terrible to see this happen, and even worse if it happens to us. But what can destroy us? Loss of money, career, health, family. But there is one item we would not usually include in the list of life destroyers, but God includes it. “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). This is no ordinary knowledge but a loss of knowledge of God. “There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land” (Hosea 4:1). We are living in a time, much like Israel of old, where the loss of knowledge of God is destroying our society. Without an intimate knowledge of God, we lose our understanding of what real love and faithfulness are. And with this loss, we see society spiralling into hate, division, depression, and loss of purpose. Let’s respond to this plea – “Oh, that we might know the LORD! Let us press on to know him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.” (Hosea 6:3). Read His Word and let Him lead you to a knowledge that brings true blessing.
