Deu 6v6-7 – Intentional Living

Stepping into my bedroom, I was disheartened to find it in disarray, just a day after I had meticulously cleaned it. In less than 24 hours, chaos had swiftly reclaimed its territory. Clothes and towels lay strewn across the floor, the bed remained unmade, coffee cups cluttered the desk, and laundry lingered, waiting to be put away. It was a sobering moment, prompting me to reflect on the underlying causes of this disarray. I realised that expecting order to effortlessly maintain itself was unrealistic. It demanded continuous effort and discipline to establish and uphold routines conducive to maintaining a harmonious environment. This moment made me reflect on my spiritual discipline. I questioned whether I had become complacent in my worship, expecting it to flourish without intentional effort. God tells us – “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). It’s vital that we integrate worship into our daily routine – from prayer to reading. Prioritise these practices, understanding that true devotion requires deliberate action.
