Gal 4v6 – Abba Father

Gal 4v6 – Abba Father

Padre, Vader, uBaba, Far, Apa, Otec. These are all words in different languages that mean the same thing – Father. However, what is interesting is the Hebrew word for father – Ab. The tradition of calling the collection of letters, the alphabet comes originally from Hebrew, where it was called the Aleph Bet, after the first two letters of the alphabet. And these are the two letters that make up the word Father – Ab. Father is our alphabet – all the letters we need to write our life story. But specifically, it’s the first two letters, and these tell a story. Aleph, the first letter of father, means strength, leadership, and divine energy. Bet, the second letter means house. Our Father is the strength, energy, leader, and builder of the house. In Hebrew, the letters are used as numbers. Aleph is 1, and Bet is 2. And so, Ab (father) has a numerical value of 3. This points to the third letter, Gimel, which represents the camel – that which journeys and carries others’ burdens. It represents loving-kindness. This is the story we can write when our Heavenly Father is the builder of our house—a story of service and loving-kindness. “And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, ‘Abba, Father.’” (Galatians 4:6).
