I’m crazy enough to run marathons. During the race, I get to a point where I’m in endure mode. However, I keep on, knowing how amazing the feeling of enjoyment is at the end. You may not be a marathon runner, but we are all running a race, the most important race of life. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2). Jesus gave us the example – endure to enjoy. Anything worth having requires endurance before enjoying the reward of achievement. If life’s race feels long know the prize is even greater. And, unlike my marathon, Jesus offers to take your race load on himself. Now that’s amazing.
