Joh 14:23 – Empty homes

One thing that constantly astounds me, wherever I travel, is the number of beautiful homes in stunning places standing empty. At one level, this speaks of excess wealth and wastage, but it also tells another story. A story of empty lives. The owners have built these homes in beautiful places – places of peace and joy, yet they are not here. In all likelihood, they are living somewhere dealing with stress and conflict in order to finance their empty homes. But, before we judge these people, isn’t this the story of many of our lives? How many of us appear beautiful on the outside – nice clothes, hair, jewelry, etc. – but inside, we are empty? Inside we are lonely. Inside there is stress and conflict. We don’t need to live empty lives in empty homes. Jesus said, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” (John 14:23). Let God move into your life, and you will experience those things we all desire – love, peace, and joy. Now that’s a home we can all own and live in!
