Joh 7v38 – Succulents

Joh 7v38 – Succulents

Succulents are one of my favourite plants – probably because they are so good at taking care of themselves and are so easy to propagate. One of the unique qualities of succulents is their ability to store extra water in their leaves, stems, and roots, allowing them to survive prolonged periods between waterings. They contain cells which are thick and gluey that aid in water retention. Succulents remind me a lot of how we should live life. Everyday life is filled with challenges. We are unsure when times of drought or hardship will come into our lives, so we must always be prepared. In Ephesians, the apostle Paul tells us, “Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:13). Just as we wear clothes naturally for warmth and protection, we need to clothe ourselves with God’s armour as we head out each day. Jesus is our living water, and we must be filled with his spiritual presence each day to survive and thrive. “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” (John 7:38). Just as succulents propagate easily, so being filled with Jesus brings more to know God, enabling them to thrive amid life’s challenges.
