Tiny homes have become very popular. A tiny home seldom exceeds 45 m2 (500 square feet) – which is, as the name implies, really tiny. Yet more and more people are giving up large homes and choosing to live small. Why? It’s because we are finally listening to what Jesus said two thousand years ago “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” (Luke 12:15). The powerful marketing engines that fill our social media and TV channels all have a single goal – get us to buy. And yet the more we fill our homes and lives with things, the less we acquire peace and joy. Life is not found in lots of possessions. The word Jesus uses for life is the Greek word “zoe”. It is often paired with the word “eternal” (John 3:15). He is telling us that meaningful life, the life of eternity, is not found in acquiring more possessions. But, we just can’t help ourselves. We must have things. Well, then let’s turn our insatiable desire to have things to have the one thing that brings contentment and life. “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:11-12). Choose to have one possession – Jesus, and in him, you will possess all things. 🌱 Open Bible – https://bit.ly/luk12v15, https://bit.ly/joh3v15, https://bit.ly/1jo5v11-12
