Mat 4:10 – Resisting temptation

“Then Jesus said to him, ‘Away with you, Satan! For it is written, You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” (Matthew 4:10). Jesus was the Son of God. King of Israel, Second in command in the universe. The temptation to test this unique, powerful position must have been great. Yet how did Jesus resist these temptations? Jesus knew the word of God intimately. On one occasion, he said; “I can of myself do nothing. I do not seek my own will but the will of the Father who sent me.” (John 5:30). We all know the temptations that are unique to us. Whether it be pride, jealousy, gossip, anger, lust. Like Jesus, we are encouraged to seek our Father’s will and do all things in His strength. Like Jesus, our solution to temptation lies in God’s Word. We need to spend time reading the Bible, memorising verses of strength and encouragement. And so, when we are tempted, like Jesus, we can speak these verses of power, and l God’s spirit-powered words will destroy all our temptations. “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” (James 4:7-8). Open Bible –https://bit.ly/mat4v10, https://bit.ly/joh5v30
