Mat 6:21-22 – Bright eyes

Sometimes you meet someone whose eyes sparkle with life. There’s something you can’t put your finger on. There’s a joy, a peace, a love that radiates from them. What is it? Jesus tells us – “Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a dank cellar. If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have!” (Matthew 6:22-23). We need to make a choice in our lives – live trusting God and living in awe of how he works in our lives, or live unbelieving, motivated by our own desires and goals. The choices we make will be clear to all as the sparkle of God living in us is impossible to hide. Today, open your eyes wide in wonder and belief to God’s very real presence all around you and experience the rush of light and life he promises to those who choose him. And, more than that, you will shine on those around you who desperately need the light in their lives too. You can be that “someone” – just let God in.
