Pro 15v19 – Thorns on the driveway

We were walking along our long gravel driveway when I noticed small plants popping up in the raised middle region between the two ruts created by the car’s tyres. On closer inspection, I saw that the plants were brambles. It was only in the middle that they were growing, not where the car’s tyres drove. It made me realise a very simple truth. Where there was movement and activity, the track was clear. However, where nothing was happening, the thorns flourished. Proverbs 15:19 says, “The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.” Why do thorns block the lazy person’s path? It’s because they don’t do anything. They resent activity and work, and soon they find their path is filled with thorns, with obstacles. They then wonder why life makes no progress and is so full of snares. Yet, more importantly, are there thorns on the path we walk with God? We stop reading his Word, attending church, praying, and thorns begin to grow. Small at first. But quickly, we find ourselves ensnared, experiencing the sharp pricks of life without God. At the cost of his life, Jesus took the pain of the thorns (John 19:2), so we might be freed from them. Choose him. Experience His Way. Walk every day on God’s path, and the world’s thorns will never ensnare you. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/pro15v19, http://bit.ly/joh19v2
