Psa 23:5 – Prepare a table

Psa 23:5 – Prepare a table

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” (Psalms 23:5) – We all have enemies, be they people, sickness, anxiety, fear, poverty…the list is long. Yet it’s in the middle of the onslaught of our enemies’ worst attacks that we are told God sets a table for us. That seems incredible – a meal in the midst of mayhem. Meals are where we can be at peace. A time with friends and family. A time of joy. Yet God promises to set a table for us in the presence of our enemies. In this most unlikely of places God bursts through and we can experience his sustenance, his joy, his friendship, his peace, his presence. If all you can see is the face of fear, look up and see His face, and know He is here. “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” (Revelation 3:20).
